efficient piston pneumatic cylinder with warranty

Product Description:

The Festo ADVU-12 is a compact pneumatic cylinder designed with a double-acting mechanism. It features a 12 mm bore size and includes an integrated magnetic piston, which enables precise position sensing during operation.

This cylinder is equipped with elastic cushioning rings at both ends, referred to as P-type cushioning, ensuring smooth and controlled movement. It is available with standard stroke lengths ranging from 5 mm up to 40 mm, catering to various application needs.

There are two piston rod options to choose from: one with an internal thread (‑P‑A) and another with an external thread (‑A‑P‑A). The operating pressure for the ADVU-12 ranges between 1.2 and 10 bar, making it suitable for a wide range of pneumatic tasks.

Thanks to its compact size and reliable position feedback capabilities, the Festo ADVU-12 is an excellent choice for automation systems where space saving and performance are critical.

Features:

Ultra-Compact Design

This cylinder features an ultra-compact design, requiring up to 50% less installation space compared to standard ISO 15552 cylinders. It is especially suitable for applications with limited space, making it ideal for tight machine layouts.

Double-Acting Operation

Equipped with double-acting functionality, the cylinder provides force during both the forward and return strokes. This ensures consistent and controllable motion throughout its operation.

Integrated Magnetic Piston

The integrated magnetic piston allows for non-contact position sensing by using proximity sensors. Notably, sensors can be replaced without the need for mechanical adjustments, enhancing ease of maintenance.

Elastic Cushioning (P-Type)

Featuring elastic cushioning of the P-type, the cylinder reduces impact energy at the end positions. This effectively minimizes vibration and noise during operation, contributing to a smoother performance.

Robust and Corrosion-Resistant Materials

Constructed with durable materials including an anodized aluminium barrel and end caps, a stainless steel piston rod, and NBR/TPE-U seals, this cylinder offers excellent resistance to corrosion. It meets the CRC 2 corrosion resistance level, making it well-suited for industrial environments.

Flexible Mounting Options

The cylinder provides versatile installation possibilities with through-holes on the barrel and a broad selection of mounting accessories. This flexibility accommodates a variety of mounting requirements.

Two Piston Rod Thread Options

Users can select between two piston rod thread types to suit different load attachments: an internal thread (‑P‑A) or an external thread (‑A‑P‑A). This choice ensures compatibility with various application needs.

Technical Parameters:

The product belongs to the Festo brand, specifically from the ADVU series. It features a bore size of 12 mm and operates on a double-acting mechanism.

For cushioning, it uses elastic cushioning rings or pads located at both ends. It also includes an integrated magnetic piston. The device can function efficiently within an operating pressure range of 1.2 to 10 bar.

The medium used is compressed air conforming to ISO 8573‑1:2010 [7:4:4], and it can handle both lubricated and unlubricated air. The ambient temperature range for operation spans from -20 to +80 °C. Connection for the pneumatic system is via an M5 fitting.

In terms of durability, the product is classified under corrosion resistance class CRC 2, indicating moderate resistance to corrosion. At an operating pressure of 6 bar, the theoretical force is 68 N during the advance stroke and 51 N during the return stroke. The impact energy at the end position is rated at 0.07 J.

The moving mass of the device is 8 grams at a 0 mm stroke, increasing by 2 grams for every additional 10 mm stroke. The basic weight starts at 87 grams for a 0 mm stroke, with an additional 15 grams added for each 10 mm stroke extension.

Regarding materials, the barrel and end cap are made from wrought aluminium alloy, while the piston rod is constructed from high-alloy stainless steel. The dynamic seal materials include NBR and TPE-U (PU).

The product complies with industry standards such as CETOP RP 52 P and ISO 6432, which relate to round design pneumatic cylinders.

Applications:

Automated assembly lines benefit greatly from compact stations that handle multiple tasks such as clamping, positioning, sorting, stopping, and ejecting workpieces. These streamlined processes enhance efficiency and precision in manufacturing environments.

In the field of electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, pneumatic systems enable highly accurate pick-and-place operations, integrated circuit handling, PCB depaneling, and the assembly of delicate components. This precision is crucial for maintaining the quality and reliability of electronic products.

Packaging and filling machinery also utilize pneumatic mechanisms to perform essential functions like pushing cartons, applying sealing presses, and actuating valves within confined spaces. These operations ensure speedy and reliable packaging processes.

The medical device industry and laboratory automation rely on smooth, low-force pneumatic motions for various applications, including diagnostic equipment, sample transportation, and liquid handling. Such gentle movements are vital to maintaining the integrity of sensitive materials.

Printing and textile machines operate effectively in challenging conditions, using pneumatic systems for accurate paper positioning, cutting presses, and yarn clamping, even within oily or inky environments. This resilience contributes to consistent production quality.

Lastly, robot end effectors incorporate compact pneumatic gripper drives, which are essential for collaborative robots and pick-and-place units. These drives provide reliable and efficient gripping capabilities in robotic automation.
