Enhancing Dust Collection System Reliability – GOYEN Pulse Valve Maintenance Enters the Era of Lean Management
Latest company news about Enhancing Dust Collection System Reliability – GOYEN Pulse Valve Maintenance Enters the Era of Lean Management

In baghouse dust collection systems used in cement, steel, power, and bulk material industries, GOYEN immersion-type pulse valves (models CA40MM, CA50MM, CA62MM, CA76MM, CA102MM and RCA50MM, RCA62MM, RCA76MM, RCA102MM) are widely adopted in internal air-header blow systems due to their compact structure and fast response. Recently, many companies have launched dedicated maintenance-optimization projects for this immersion series to reduce emission risks and extend the service life of both filter bags and valves.

According to O&M providers, although the immersion design reduces external piping and potential leakage points, it also raises the bar for maintenance. Common on-site issues include:

  • Diaphragms and guide assemblies not replaced for long periods, leading to insufficient pulse volume and incomplete dust cake removal;
  • Oil and contaminants adhering to diaphragm surfaces, affecting switching speed and sealing performance;
  • Aging seals between valve cover and body, causing “micro-leaks” that are difficult to detect;
  • Moisture and dust ingress into the pilot valves of RCA series, resulting in unstable operation.

In response to the specific characteristics of the CA/RCA immersion series, equipment service providers and users are jointly promoting the following measures:

  1. Standardized, Model-Specific Maintenance
    Separate maintenance standards are being developed for CA40MM–CA102MM and RCA50MM–RCA102MM based on different diameters, flow rates, and operating conditions, including diaphragm replacement intervals and key inspection points. For example, large-diameter valves (CA102MM, RCA102MM) operating in high-dust, high-frequency applications are recommended to have shorter preventive replacement cycles for diaphragms and springs.

  2. Segmented Shutdown Overhauls and Seal Verification
    During planned outages, plants depressurize the air header in sections and inspect immersion-type pulse valves one by one: checking valve seat and cover sealing surfaces for scratches, corrosion, and dust buildup, and paying particular attention to the seal integrity at valve–air-header welds or flanged joints to prevent subtle leaks that can lead to insufficient header pressure.

  3. Professional Maintenance of Diaphragms and Pilot Valves

    • Use diaphragm assemblies and repair kits matched to the original GOYEN design to ensure proper stroke and response time.
    • For RCA series solenoid pilot valves, regularly clean exhaust ports and internal debris, and check coil insulation resistance and terminal tightness to avoid main valve “stuck open” or “stuck closed” failures due to pilot malfunction.
  4. Compressed Air Quality and Internal Header Environment Management
    Since immersion-type valves are continuously exposed to the air inside the header, plants are strengthening upstream filtration and automatic drainage to reduce oil, water, and corrosion products entering the system, thereby minimizing corrosion and contamination of internal diaphragms, springs, and seals in CA/RCA valves.

  5. Model-Based Records and Spare-Parts Inventory
    O&M teams are creating model-specific records for CA40MM–CA102MM and RCA50MM–RCA102MM, documenting operating hours, pulse frequency, and failure history for each valve. Matched diaphragm kits, coils, and guide components are stocked by model to allow “like-for-like rapid replacement,” shortening downtime.

Industry experts note that refined maintenance of GOYEN immersion-type pulse valves not only improves pulse uniformity and cleaning efficiency in baghouse systems and reduces bag blinding and caking, but also helps cut compressed-air consumption and overall energy use. “Keeping every CA/RCA immersion valve under control is essentially putting an extra ‘insurance policy’ on the long-term stable operation of the entire dust collection system,” one expert commented.

As companies place greater emphasis on environmental compliance and operating cost control, immersion-type pulse valves such as CA40MM, CA50MM, CA62MM, CA76MM, CA102MM and RCA50MM, RCA62MM, RCA76MM, RCA102MM are being included as priorities in annual overhauls and retrofit projects. Through standardized maintenance and the use of genuine parts, the reliability and emission stability of dust collection systems are expected to improve further.
