The HG-C series consists of compact CMOS laser displacement sensors designed specifically for industrial automation applications that demand stable and highly precise distance and position measurements. Each sensor in this series features an integrated CMOS laser optical system combined with a built-in mirror. This innovative design results in a slim body depth while ensuring measurement accuracy on par with specialized displacement sensors.
A 7-segment digital display is incorporated to present measured distances directly in millimeters. This feature enables operators to easily verify readings and set threshold values without the need for external programming tools, simplifying the calibration and monitoring process.
These sensors cover five different measurement centre distances: 30 mm, 50 mm, 100 mm, 200 mm, and 400 mm. The corresponding measurable ranges extend from ±5 mm up to ±200 mm, with repeatability varying between 10 μm and 800 μm depending on the specific model chosen. Regarding linearity, the 30 mm, 50 mm, and 100 mm models achieve ±0.1% full scale (F.S.), while the sensors designed for longer measurement ranges have linearity specifications of ±0.2% F.S. or ±0.3% F.S.
Output options include analog voltage signals ranging from 0 to 5 volts and analog current outputs from 4 to 20 mA. Additionally, the sensors feature open-collector control outputs supporting either NPN or PNP configurations, with selectable Light-ON or Dark-ON operation modes to suit various application requirements.
The HG-C series sensors are enclosed in compact housings rated at IP67, offering protection against dust and water ingress. They operate effectively within a temperature range of -10°C to +45°C and are designed to withstand vibration and shock conditions commonly found in industrial settings. Powering these sensors requires a 12 to 24 V DC supply, with low current consumption not exceeding 40 mA at 24 V DC.
Users can choose from selectable response times of 1.5 ms, 5 ms, or 10 ms to best fit their application's speed requirements. Depending on the model, these sensors come with various certifications including CE, UKCA, FDA, and UL/c-UL, ensuring compliance with international safety and quality standards.
The optical design utilizes a compact CMOS structure with an integrated mirror that effectively reduces the sensor depth. This design maintains the high accuracy typically expected from displacement sensors, ensuring precise measurements despite the compact form factor.
Measurements are displayed digitally in millimetres via a clear 7-segment display. This feature allows users to see the measured distance directly, making the process of setting thresholds and verifying results on-site much simpler and more efficient.
The sensor offers multiple measuring ranges through centre distances of 30 mm, 50 mm, 100 mm, 200 mm, and 400 mm. These ranges cover measurement spans varying from ±5 mm up to ±200 mm, providing flexibility for various application requirements.
High repeatability is a key feature, with precision starting from 10 micrometres on the HG-C1030 model and reaching up to 800 micrometres on the HG-C1400 model when measured at distances between 200 mm and 400 mm.
For external data acquisition and scaling needs, the device provides dual analog outputs which include a 0–5 V voltage output as well as a 4–20 mA current output. This facilitates integration with a wide range of control systems.
Users can select from three response times—1.5 ms, 5 ms, or 10 ms—allowing them to balance the speed of measurement against stability according to the application's demands.
The sensor features an NPN or PNP control output with an open-collector transistor design. It supports selectable Light-ON or Dark-ON modes and includes short-circuit protection for enhanced reliability and safety.
Designed for tough industrial environments, the sensor boasts an IP67 rating, making it both dust-tight and resistant to water ingress. This ensures dependable operation in challenging conditions.
Compliance with a broad range of certifications adds to the sensor’s appeal. It meets CE standards for EMC and RoHS, UKCA requirements, FDA laser notice regulations, and carries UL/c-UL recognition, ensuring it adheres to international safety and quality standards.
Power consumption is kept minimal to promote efficiency, with the device drawing 40 mA or less at 24 V DC and 65 mA or less at 12 V DC, supporting energy-conscious operation.
