The main purpose of the FESTO solenoid valve is to control the switch of liquid and gas pipelines, which is known as a two-position DO control. It is mainly used to regulate the flow in small pipelines.
Electric valves, on the other hand, are generally used for the analog regulation of medium flow in liquid, gas, and wind system pipelines and can be controlled by AI. These electric valves can also be used as two-position switch controls when controlling large valves and air systems. However, Electromagnetic valves can only be used as switch signals for DO control, and can only be used for small pipeline control. They are commonly found in DN50 and below pipelines, and are rarely used upwards.
Electric valves can have AI feedback signals and can be controlled by DO or AO, which are more common in large pipelines and air valves.
There are two types of valve controls: electromagnetic valves and electric valves. Electromagnetic valves are driven by a coil and can only be turned on or off, with a short action time during the switching process.
On the other hand, the drive of an electric valve is generally achieved by a motor, which takes a certain amount of time to simulate the opening or closing action. This action can be adjusted easily.
Electromagnetic valves generally have a small flow coefficient and a small working pressure difference. For instance, the flow coefficient of a 25 caliber solenoid valve is much smaller than that of a 15 caliber electric ball valve.
The FESTO solenoid valve is known for its main characteristics:
Selecting the right solenoid valve depends on the type of power supply. AC solenoid valves are generally more convenient to use. When it comes to voltage specifications, prioritize using AC220V over DC24V. To ensure optimal performance, the fluctuation of power supply voltage should not exceed %+10 for AC and around ±10% for DC. If the tolerance is exceeded, voltage stabilization measures must be taken or special orders must be made. Additionally, make sure to select the rated current and power consumption based on the power supply capacity. Pay attention to the high VA value during AC starting as well, and choose indirect solenoid valves when the capacity is insufficient.
Selecting the right solenoid valve also depends on the environment it will be used in. The maximum and minimum temperatures of the environment should be within the allowable range, and if there are any deviations, special orders should be made. In environments with high humidity or rain, waterproof solenoid valves should be selected. For environments with frequent vibrations, bumps, and impacts, consider marine solenoid valves. When used in corrosive or explosive environments, prioritize selecting corrosion-resistant materials based on safety requirements. If there is limited environmental space, consider a multifunctional solenoid valve for online maintenance convenience.
The type of solenoid valve chosen depends on the gas-liquid or mixed state of the media. Different specifications of products have different medium temperatures, and exceeding this range can lead to coil burnout and aging sealing components. Make sure the medium temperature is selected within the allowable range of the solenoid valve. The viscosity of the medium is also important, and a high viscosity solenoid valve should be selected if it exceeds 50cSt and the diameter is less than 15mm. If the medium's cleanliness is poor, a backwash filter valve should be installed in front of the solenoid valve. Additionally, if the medium flows in a directional manner, backflow may not be allowed.
