The SMC AR425 to AR935 series represents an internally pilot-operated, relief-type air pressure regulator. Within this series, the AR825, AR835, AR925, and AR935 sub-series are categorized in the large-bore segment, featuring port sizes ranging from 1-1/4" up to 2". These regulators are specifically designed for use in central compressor stations, high-flow mains, as well as multi-station centralized air supply systems.
The pilot-operated mechanism uses the supply air itself to actuate the main valve. This approach delivers significantly enhanced outlet pressure stability, reduces pressure drop even at high flow rates, and minimizes fluctuations in outlet pressure when the inlet pressure changes. These advantages make the series superior to traditional direct-acting regulators in various demanding applications.
The product offering includes 14 distinct part numbers. These comprise 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" AR825 and AR835 models, some equipped with gauges (designated as G versions), as well as 2" AR925 and AR935 models, again including gauge-equipped variants. Additionally, 2" X218 semi-standard special configurations are available.
As for operating pressure ranges, the high-pressure models (marked as 25; including AR825 and AR925) can be adjusted from 0.05 to 0.83 MPa. Meanwhile, the low-pressure precision types (marked as 35; including AR835 and AR935) cover a range from 0.02 to 0.2 MPa. This wide range of adjustability makes them suitable for general pneumatic systems as well as specialized low-pressure precision applications such as electronics manufacturing, coating processes, and laboratory air supply.
The product features large bore ports measuring 1-1/4", 1-1/2", and 2", designed to accommodate mains and multi-drop centralized supply systems efficiently.
It utilizes an internal pilot relieving mechanism that automatically vents any excess outlet pressure to the atmosphere, ensuring safe and stable operation.
Two distinct pressure ranges are available: a high range from 0.05 to 0.83 MPa and a low precision range from 0.02 to 0.2 MPa, catering to different application requirements.
The body is constructed from die-cast aluminum, providing durability suitable for industrial environments. The units weigh 2.5 kg for models AR825 and AR835, and 4.5 kg for models AR925 and AR935.
Models with the G suffix include a panel pressure gauge from the G46 series, allowing for easy and clear local pressure readings.
The X218 suffix indicates a semi-standard special configuration by SMC; customers should consult with the sales team to verify the precise specifications.
A locking screw is included on the adjusting handle, which helps prevent accidental changes to the settings once they are configured.
Thread options such as Rc (PTF), NPT (F), and G threads are available upon request to meet various installation needs.

Central compressor stations play a vital role in maintaining proper pressure levels by reducing the pressure in main air lines. This ensures efficient and reliable operation of the entire compressed air network.
High-flow compressed air mains are essential for delivering plant-wide centralized air supply. These mains support extensive industrial facilities by providing a consistent and robust source of compressed air to various sections of the plant.
Multi-station automated assembly, packaging, and conveying lines utilize compressed air systems extensively. Pneumatic components drive precise, reliable movement and handling throughout complex production processes.
Pneumatic manipulators, large bore cylinders, and clusters of pneumatic grippers are key elements in modern manufacturing. They enable versatile and powerful manipulation of materials, improving efficiency and safety.
Spray booths, air blow-off stations, and high-volume process air points rely on compressed air for optimal performance. These applications demand consistent air quality and pressure to ensure product quality and process effectiveness.
Major heavy industries such as mining, metallurgy, cement production, and power plants extensively use compressed air systems. These sectors benefit from robust, centralized air supplies to support a wide range of machinery and processes.
Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) machines in industries like textile, printing, paper, and packaging equipment incorporate compressed air technology. This integration enhances machine performance and operational reliability.
